Trails part of Martinez general plan update

Published Wednesday March 15

Environmental advocate Igor Skaredoff showed an aerial map of the Alhambra watershed and said…

Martinez — The city’s long-awaited general plan update will contain a map of 4 existing major trails and a program to create a Trails Master Plan with a more detailed map.

“The hills in this community mean so much,” remarked trails advocate Jamie Fox.

The Martinez City Council’s March six decision confirms resident connections to John Muir’s heritage and enhances access to local parks and open spaces.

The city staff prepared a “white paper” on the trails issue and offered the council a choice of numerous actions, but the council came up with its own solution.

City Attorney Veronica Nebb noted that there are geotechnical concerns about trail placement.

Article length: About 480 words.
