Orcem/VMT is currently running full-page ads in the local press that claim to separate “myths” from “facts,” yet their phrasing of these so-called facts leaves one assuming that they draw from the “alternative facts” pool.

• Fact No. 1: “Lemon Street was designed and used as a truck route.”

Lemon Street was designed for horse and wagon land access to a peninsular railhead that was constructed in 1869. The original Starr Flour Mills on the site was built the same year, and Lemon Street to Benicia Road continued to be the only land access to the growing community of south Vallejo until 5th Street was raised above the marshland that once separated Vallejo from south Vallejo.
